Job Description

Position Summary

Urban Alliance (UA), a national youth workforce development nonprofit, is seeking a Program Training Coordinator for Obama Youth Job Corps program in the Chicago region to develop strong relationships with school partners; recruit, onboard and train teachers; They will also support a cohort of high school juniors through a year-long program and facilitate professional development workshops. This position reports to the Director of Programs.

Qualifications


Program Training Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Facilitation –Facilitate six weeks of training as well as weekly professional development workshops for high school cohort from September – July. Facilitate teacher trainings and conduct classroom observation sessions to monitor program quality. Facilitate conversations with school staff to identify needs around professional development for juniors.
  • Relationship management –Work in collaboration with school staff to develop and execute participant recruitment and retention strategies. Build and maintain relationships with students, mentors, parents, and school staff.
  • Data management–Complete monthly and high priority caseload notes with designated time frame. Analyze, and report program and intern data; Actively use outcome data to guide program decisions for real-time course corrections.
  • External partner support:Build out a teacher recruitment and accountability/assessment strategy to work in collaboration with schools to recruit quality applicants.Collect routine program data, teacher participation and workshop facilitation and enter Salesforce on a regular basis.
  • Student support –Monitorthe professional, academic, and personal performance of at least 35 high school juniors; Plan and facilitate high quality quarterly workshops focused on professional development and civic engagement with daily workshops to cohort of juniors.Establish a safe and professional learning environment for students that encourages active participation, a high degree of student engagement and content retention.

Qualifications

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Is passionate about our mission and the possibilities of what you can accomplish
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • At least two years prior experience in youth development, curriculum development, or facilitation
  • Ability to commute throughout the city of Chicago.
  • Ability to commit to at least two consecutive years of employment with Urban Alliance
  • At least twoyears of educator training
  • Experience working with community organizations and schools in under-resourced areas
  • Experience building and managing a new program successfully
  • Can work successfully in both independent and team settings
  • Ability to present oneself professionally and maintain effective, professional working relationships with youth, adults and co-workers
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Compensation Package:

At Urban Alliance one of our core values is taking care of each other, and this includes offering competitive benefits, paid time off, and options for remote work.

In addition to having paid time off between December 25thand January 1st, we provide 18 days of paid time off plus 10 paid federal holidays,as well as birthday and diversity paid holidays. Additional days are provided to staff after three years.The compensation for this position ranges between $51,000 - $58,000. Depending on the calendar, additional paid closure days and early closure days are established each year.Our benefits include a comprehensive health plan with 90% individual healthcare coverage for employees, 403(B) retirement plans with a 3% match, whole life insurance and pre-tax commuter benefits. In addition, depending on responsibilities, we offerworking remotely up to two days per week and flexible hours when possible.
