Job Summary
The primary focus of the Specialist is to oversee the management of professional education programs for EMU. Manages the selection and design of workshops to be presented in collaboration with subject matter experts/departments. Assists with market analysis and marketing. Manages unit budgets. Develops employer partnerships with companies, government organizations, NGOs for tuition reimbursement arrangements and contract education opportunities.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Manage proposal and contract execution. Respond to university requests for proposals (RFPs) in a timely manner and create proposal content specifically targeted to university needs and pain points.
  • Review and evaluate client requested contract language changes and bring special requests to the attention of senior leadership and ensure contract accuracy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Assist the department in driving professional education program opportunities forward, from inquiry to contract, ensuring the department is achieving established annual goals.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues and faculty to develop ideas for discipline-specific programs and confirm accurate descriptions of deliverables in contracts.
  • Develop standard operating procedures relative to the Professional Education Unit, in cooperation with the Director of Graduate Admissions, and the Director of Enrollment Operations.
  • Collaborate with the marketing department to best represent professional education programs and consider future marketing initiatives.
  • Problem solve and provide creative solutions to complex professional education programming.
  • Develop and deliver timely and accurate budgets, proposals, and contracts for EMU’s professional education programs, utilizing internal financial systems, templates, and Salesforce/CRM.
  • Debrief with program management at the conclusion of a program to consider opportunities for improvement the future.
  • Update proposal and contract templates as needed.
  • Represent EMU Professional Education at Conferences and fairs when requested.
  • Consult with university partners about EMU Professional Education Programs
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability of high-level analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a wide variety of constituents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with contact management systems such as Salesforce.
  • Exhibit drive to increase organizational revenue and profits.
  • Confident in factoring budgets and determining margins.
  • Ability to have a professional and neat appearance.
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to operate commonly used office equipment such as a copy machine, fax, phone, etc.
  • Ability to use a PC and software such as, Windows, Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook), and Google.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to set goals, prioritize and organize job tasks and workload in order to meet deadlines, ability to complete work in a timely manner and communicate progress routinely with the Director of Graduate and Professional Recruitment.
  • Comfortable working both independently and in a team environment, within and across departments to meet established target-based performance goals.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
Experience working with international vendors, developing, reviewing, and managing contracts and contract renewals, along with financial acumen preferred.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must occasionally travel to meetings and conferences off campus, which may include some overnight travel.
Supervisory Responsibilities
