Job Description
The Production Coordinator (Supervisor) oversees production activities and hourly personnel of the assigned manufacturing Area within the plant. Responsible for personal/process safety, product quality, environmental compliance and continuous improvement efforts to ensure operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities


  • Defines optimum staffing level to meet production requirements in a cost-effective manner. Able to hold team accountable while maintaining a positive morale
  • Direct hourly manufacturing personnel and is responsible for their performance, hiring and training
  • Controls OT and sources of waste, material rework, etc.
  • Ensures direct reports adhere to all safety programs, follows SOPs and GMPs
  • Monitor daily operations and coordinates production changes to meet shipment and production needs
  • Reviews production schedules and assigns tasks ensuring production is completed safely on time and to specification
  • Manages filling shifts, OT distribution, posting schedules, rail switch, and reviews production records
  • Partners with Quality department to ensure highest quality product and smooth process flow
  • Leads cultural and continuous improvement practices to drive positive change throughout the organization
  • Follows and provides support for all environmental, health and safety initiatives. Proactively addresses identified safety hazards and eliminates unsafe conditions
  • Ensures compliance to budget and reconciles all variances monthly
  • Collaborates regularly with Maintenance Department regarding all equipment repairs and upgrades. Supports preventive maintenance program to minimize unscheduled downtime within the department
  • Drives overall manufacturing activities to satisfy production throughput, capacity, and schedule attainment goals


Required Education And Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in engineering (chemical, mechanical, industrial or food/pharmaceutical)
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience preferred
  • 7 or more years of manufacturing experience preferred


Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities


  • Strong communication skills
  • Solid understanding of safe work practices, regulatory requirements and GMPs
  • Demonstrated planning skills to meet production goals and deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership and continuous improvement abilities
  • Knowledge of phosphate manufacturing chemistry and equipment helpful
  • Understanding of budgeting and cost control
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
