JOB MISSION:
New Balance’s Shift Manager will assist to create, build and execute Domestic Manufacturing strategies and vision that will drive New Balance to be a Top 3 Global Athletic Brand. As a Shift Manager, you will be responsible for the production to achieve company objectives for safety, cost, delivery and quality. This will be accomplished by leading, developing, and motivating a team of supervisors and Team Leaders to meet/exceed company goals and objectives while managing through company programs and philosophies. This position requires understanding lean manufacturing and is able to make critical strategic business decisions relating to the goals and objectives of the manufacturing facilities.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Execute strategic manufacturing initiatives and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the site that will reduce waste and positively impact the Domestic P&L
- Champion company objectives for safety, quality, cost and delivery of domestically made footwear to our customers
- Guide, develop, inspire and lead associates to achieve operational objectives and strategies.
- Collaborating cross-functionally, you will determine and implement cost saving methods on products, oversee the introduction of new products into production, and establish appropriate production levels.
- Manage process and policy adherence
- Lead and support associate involvement efforts, foster effective problem-solving techniques, drive continuous improvement, and institute corrective actions when issues arise.
REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse cross functional team. Ability to lead by example, reinforcing the importance of teamwork and effective communication
- Strong, proven ability and knowledge with TWI methodology, Lean and Toyota production system. Thorough understanding of basic kaizen skills, including such tools as 5S, Practical problem-solving, & PDCA.
- Influential collaborator who builds highly productive and respectful relationships across all levels of the organization as well with external partners
- Strategic acumen and intellectual creativity and curiosity to develop executable ideas
- Experience developing and leading teams and demonstrated ability in project management
- Experienced proven leader with deep understanding of manufacturing operations and track record of achieving business objectives
