CERENOVUS, part of the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies, is recruiting for a Production Planning Manager, to be located in Irvine, CA.

The Production Planning Manager manages and develops work processes that integrate customer delivery requirements into manufacturing plans. The role is responsible for the planning of finished goods production schedules for manufacturing, buying and purchase order management for raw materials and components from external suppliers, and the tracking and projection of inventory across our network of internal manufacturing sites.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Planning Manager is responsible for Lead and Coordinate all Production Planning Processes and Buying activities to ensure:

  • Serves as a common business voice in process and initiatives for MD&D PP&L Organization.
  • Owns the weekly Materials Requirements Planning for raw material and components to share with suppliers and Buyers to execute against.
  • Focusing on driving customer value through development & implementation of MD&D PP&L Business Practices & Standards.
  • Achieving customer demand fulfillment targets, developing & implementing world-class inventory
  • Owns and Responsible for the execution and process improvement for the Supply S&OP process.
  • Leads the Production Planning and Integration of new products.
  • Ensure demand & inventory management systems are maintained & continuously improved to achieve state-of the-art business process technology.
  • Managing & Accountable for Master Production Schedulers alignment on processes and execution for such as Business Planning, Capacity Planning, Systems Capability and Data Management and Inventory Entitlement.
  • Managing & directing global, strategic demand & inventory plans. This position possesses a broad range of responsibilities critical to efficient utilization of resources & inventories to meet demand.
  • Responsible to identify, communicate, and drive corrective actions derived from the execution of the supply plan as it relates to the production planning embedded in duties and responsibilities section.
  • Oversees the weekly MRP process for all sites, translating the weekly finished goods supply plan into raw material requirements for analysis and execution by buyers.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Lead, Mentor and Coach Production Planning team to review manufacturing capacity utilization and identifies possible manufacturing constraints. Monitors and anticipates production issues due to assembly capacity and new product launches.
  • Manages the PO and Buying process for all sites, ensuring continuous product flow and addressing invoice and mismatch issues as they arise. Continuous partnership with suppliers to confirm PO quantities and delivery dates, while tracking supplier performance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coach Production Planning team members in processes necessary to accomplish properly evaluated schedules & changes with respect to inventories & resources & monitoring same to ensure consumption & production are being accomplished as planned.
  • Provide leadership for production planning team members in developing & completing objectives.
  • Mentor & coach department associates on career development.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • SAFETY: Set standards for safe behavior. Recognize & reward safe behavior in others. Ensure that direct reports employ safe practices. Enforce safety policies & procedures. Evaluate staff member’s safety performance & ensure that safety is a part of each direct report’s GPMS.
  • Define, develop & maintain, with the aid of on-line systems, lead-times, backorders & backlog management.
  • Reduce obsolescence excess & slow-moving finished goods exposure by direct interface with engineering, materials, manufacturing, marketing & finance in the release of new products & phase-out of old products.
  • Set and meet all inventory targets at site and adhere to inventory governance process through providing inventory projections, bridges, tracking, and implementing optimal safety stock settings.
  • Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition.
  • Provide performance feedback to direct reports on a quarterly basis or more frequently if required.
  • Support ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9000 activities
  • Ensure department associates’ skills are in place to meet enterprise needs.
  • Ensure demand & inventory management systems are maintained & continuously improved to achieve state-of the-art business process technology.
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.
  • Know & follow company policies & procedures & assure that direct reports know & follow policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility.
  • Facilitate deployment and maintenance of lean scheduling process to establish parameters, inventory targets, and continuous improvement to support customer service, inventory and cost targets.
  • Follow J&J and company Records Management Policies for Convenience Information, Records Retention Schedules, Training and Education, Document Hold Notices, Records Cleanout, achieving customer demand fulfillment targets, developing & implementing world-class inventory.
  • TRAINING: Complete training in area of responsibility & assure that direct reports are trained in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training & assure that required periodic re-training takes place for direct reports in areas such as safety & environmental.
  • Responsible for the creation of balanced supply plans for all sites, driving the production signal to meet customer and warehouse inventory requirements, while working with Operations to manage capacity and absorption.
  • Plans and creates weekly Materials Requirements Planning for raw material and components to share with suppliers and Buyers to execute against
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Lead the process of integrating marketing forecasts into viable schedules that are compatible with the business plan; an efficient use of capacities & resources & incorporate defined inventory levels.
  • Management practices & standards.

Qualifications

Required:

  • MRP, APS, and/or ERP systems experience.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Information Technology, Logistics, or Operations). (MBA or equivalent preferred)
  • A minimum of 8 years Supply Chain, Operations, and/or other business experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in at least one of the following disciplines: materials planning, master scheduling; inventory management, demand management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • The demonstrated ability to identify problems/issues, recommend appropriate solutions, and follow-up to ensure positive results.
  • Proven analytical/quantitative skills.
  • Experience with materials management function in a multi-site environment to include demand management (DM), master scheduling (MPS), capacity planning (CRP), material planning (MRP) & inventory control.
  • Data mining reporting skills through MS-excel (or equivalent).
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint)

Preferred:

  • At least 3 years of management experience.
  • Scenario planning experience.
  • APICS certification.
  • Manugistics, JDE, or SAP experience.
  • International materials management experience is desirable

Other:

  • The anticipated base pay range for this position is $97,000 to $166,750.
