Job Description

You will maintain awareness of quality standards, and communicate department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues. You will build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management, and understand to consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union. Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues.
  • Responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements
  • Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities.
  • Leads Global Manufacturing Systems(GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as lead resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas
  • Participate in the selection of new employees and trains, develops and evaluates salaried and hourly employees, and the development of highly effective teams
  • Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training)

  • Coaches, trains, develops, and evaluates hourly and salary employees
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management in a team environment
  • Assist in the implementation and coordination of manufacturing objectives.
  • Establish recommendations to accomplish completion of projects
  • Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment
  • Provides assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems
  • Support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes across multiple departments and serves as a resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas while helping to meet or exceed production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with outside teams and functions
  • Administers divisional and Corporate policies
  • Meets cost, schedule and quality requirements
  • Assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations/projects
  • Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains, and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
  • Maintain Corporate and unit management control systems, budget and other information necessary to monitor performance

  • Direct link between customers and engine builders
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of people leader experience
  • At least 7 years of manufacturing experience, vehicle systems preferred
  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of the UAW national agreement
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience implementing Built-in-Quality Initiatives
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Processes (CIP)
  • Supply Chain and Quality Experience
  • Advanced understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Proficient in Throughput Improvement Process (TIP)
