Job Summary


The mission of the Product Specialist is to manage the lifetime commercial success of his/her product line(s), acting as the product champion within the company. The ideal candidate will collaborate and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with senior upstream Global Product Managers, Regional Sales, Regional Marketing and R&D, managing global products throughout the Product Lifecycle from concept to withdrawal to ensure maximum return on investment is achieved. The Global Associate Product Manager is expected to become the market expert within the business for their defined area, understanding customer’s current and future needs and the strengths and weaknesses of competitors’ products, whilst also being able to represent their business segments in front of customers and company leadership as a principal knowledge owner. The Product Specialist at ZimVie is purpose-driven to meaningfully transform the lives of patient and clinician customers.


Principal Duties And Responsibilities


Within the oversight of senior global upstream team members, and as assigned, the Product Specialist:


  • Continuously gains and maintains high level of product category knowledge through staying current in published information, regional market contacts, surgeon interaction, and industry educational meetings
  • Assists the team in cultivating strategy at the brand and/or sub-segment level
  • Supports the team in definition of the clinical evidence plan with the clinical strategic lead for the bands and/or sub-segment.
  • Supports the marketing development effort to bring new products from concept through commercialization including market exit
  • Supports team ownership of major brands and/or sub-segment of the portfolio
  • Works across multiple internal and external groups such as design, packaging and labeling, regulatory claims, surgical technique generation, advertising, sales force education, etc
  • Interacts closely with Marcom teams or agencies to define clear messaging and visualization for the brands/sub-segments and product launch collaterals
  • Actively participates in assigned project teams and represents global marketing on core teams for product development
  • Acquires product information through market research (including but not limited to quant and qual surveys and interviews), data reports, competitive insights and regional input to assure projects meet the needs of the intended markets for clear and comprehensive customer requirement documentation and clear go-to-market and launch plans can be delivered
  • Ensures execution of key strategies for the brand and/ or sub-segment level


Expected Areas of Competence


The Product Specialist has experience in and/or exhibits the aptitude to:


  • Acquire and use knowledge of existing products, new developments and market needs to formulate strategic and creative marketing plans.
  • Prepare forecasts, financial models and identifies market shifts and threats.
  • Build and maintains long-term relationships with high level key opinion leaders, key strategic customers and regional sales teams to promote and support the ZimVie brands.
  • Develop a firm understanding of financial trends and performance in specific brand lines.
  • Develop, use and understands technical medical language to interact with internal and external customers. Translates technical language and discusses it internally in business terms.
  • Assists the team in assessing brand viability relative to existing products with new product offerings to enhance overall brand offering. Champions the brand through a comprehensive understanding of customer and end-user needs and product positioning relative to the competition.


Education/Experience Requirements


  • Typically requires a minimum of two (2) years of product management, marketing or sales experience
  • B.A./B.S., preferably including formal studies in Business or Engineering
  • Experience in the medical device industry required; dental experience is preferred.
