The Job:
The Hunter Douglas brand is a benefit when recruiting in the Product Management space! We are the industry leader and stand behind the quality of our product. This role is an opportunity to assist in establishing the vision and direction through all phases of the product lifecycle for both the Vignette® and Aura™ Illuminated Shades collections. You will execute objectives through cross-functional teams in the areas of product strategy, product development, and product quality for one of our most robust lines. You will have an opportunity to make a measurable strategic impact for this versatile product as part of a small team working in our newly renovated open-concept space located mere steps from the manufacturing floor.
About you:
  • BA/BS degree in a related field
  • 4+ years of related product management and demonstrated project management experience is required.
  • Ability to manage several projects, across multiple teams and timelines at once
  • Leadership experience within a cross-functional team environment
What you will do:
LEADERSHIP

COMMUNICATION
Excellent verbal and written communication skills providing support for complex product related needs.
Solid ability to present to cross-functional team members, sales team members, dealers and divisional leadership.
Demonstrates the ability to clearly and effectively communicate and document requirements.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Leads medium to large scale projects and advises on small scale projects.
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks within a project.
Advanced knowledge of Project Management tools, SmartSheets experience a benefit.
NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Acts as champion of NPD projects across the product development team.
Demonstrates advanced understanding of product development processes and procedures.
Leads ideation, requirement gathering, and analysis process for projects; specific product and/or specific needs.
Creates product requirements and product platforms.
Understanding of product trademarks and trade dress and patents.
QUALITY/ SUSTAINING
Actively problem solves utilizing analysis to determine actionable projects.
Prioritizes continuous improvement projects in collaboration with cross-functional team
Analyzes internal data and competitive information to provide SKU reduction recommendations.
Considers Alternative Brands and International launch/discontinuation implications as well as warranty, repair and remake strategies.
PRODUCT STRATEGY
Product authority that clearly understands product features, benefits, user applications and positioning within the category hierarchy and how it ladders to the master brand.
Identifies key differences in the market, category and competitive landscape.
Possesses solid understanding of product channel differentiation with consumers, sales team, dealers, and installers.
Understands current and past performance trends for the product and competition to inform decisions and recommendations.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Develops and executes programs to achieve stated objectives regarding integrated margin, revenue and profitability.
Define product cost targets and hold functional teams accountable to achieve or surpass targets.
Understanding of product and ROI as it relates to; dealer appreciation, consumer satisfaction, incremental increases and margin gains. Solid understanding of cost of quality as it relates to product.
RESEARCH
Establish a business case for research needs. Plans research activities, collects, compiles and analyzes research data to shares with stakeholders in a manageable format.
Understanding of trends and insights related to product line including consumer and dealer frustrations.
Conducts situational assessments for the product line, including SWOTs.
Assembles, analyzes and distributes competitive intelligence.
What You’ll Have:
Basic knowledge of SAP or similar ERP.
Solid knowledge of the principles of finance to prepare budgets and understand all costs connected to the product.
Solid knowledge of consumer needs in home fashion industry.
Solid knowledge of project management.
Solid knowledge of analyzing and comparing competitive data
Expert knowledge of communication skills (oral and written) and how to adapt to various situations when dealing with or providing feedback.
Solid ability in conducting presentations to all size audiences.
Skill in proactively presenting recommendations to management based on analysis.
Ability to utilize creative thinking and problem solving techniques on a daily basis.
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments.
Ability to conduct work in a self-directed manner with limited supervision.
