Position Summary: The product development coordinator will be responsible for responsible for bringing innovative products to market in a timely and cost-effective manner. Working closely with cross-functional partners in Design, Sales & Production to build great products within the required timelines.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Internal process: Collaborate well with members of the office PD team (sample cutter & sewer, tech design) to prioritize workflow & best leverage department resources, as well as with our remote team in Central America to effectively guide their activities on the ground
  • Style development: Work with Design on initial product; provide input on feasibility, optimal execution, technical parameters and sourcing. Coordinate with Production teams to finalize sourcing strategy.
  • Quality oversight: Partner with quality assurance team members to review and troubleshoot any quality control issues pertinent to initial development materials & techniques
  • Library management: Organization, administration and maintenance of physical + digital material, style and embellishment libraries
  • Timeline ownership: Coordinate sampling workflow for both internally developed and sourced goods to meet critical development deadlines. Facilitate sampling for customer specific special make-up/off-cycle product, as well as for internal seasonal lines and the occasional photoshoots, customer & influencer requests.
  • Supplier management: Communicate and follow-up with vendors, mills, dye houses and internal business partners daily on various stages of developments and costing. Own & maintain efficient supplier relationships; Drive new supplier sourcing as needed.
  • Tracking & metrics: Create, process and track development/SMS/PP samples through POs/work orders across both internal & external contractors. Continually update tracking charts to provide company-wide Work In Process visibility.
  • Costing: Initiate and analyze unit pricing - domestic CMT, import full package, and hybrid package (import garment + domestic decoration). Participate in cost comparison and margin analysis.
  • Material development: Partner with direct raw material suppliers and full package suppliers to develop/counter-develop new fabrics, trims, labels, packaging & other relevant items.
  • Style ownership: Initial style setup and tech pack creation – defining BOM items, garment decoration process, packing & trim requirements and special handling instructions. Work with the technical designer to ensure tech elements are published and round out package completion.


Qualifications:


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Degree in Apparel related area study & at least 4 years work experience in PD, Technical Design and Pre-Production environments
  • Strong organizational skills and results driven with proven problem solving skills
  • Experience in ERP software strongly preferred (A2000 in particular)
  • Flexibility; ability to swiftly pivot to different types of tasks as the workload demands it
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator & MS Office suite
  • Resourceful; keen understanding of priorities & able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in PLM software also a plus (Centric in particular)
