As a fast-growing startup, we are seeking a skilled and versatile Product Design Engineer with a strong background in mechanical engineering, product design, and startup experience to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the mechanical engineering and product design aspects of our projects, ensuring the optimal function, reliability, and fit & finish of our products while utilizing unique skills for faster design iterations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify and address design challenges and opportunities in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Ensure product designs meet quality standards, minimize production timelines, and pass compliance and approval requirements.
• Continuously refine and improve product designs based on customer feedback, market trends, and technological advancements.
• Lead the mechanical and manufacturing design of products, with a special focus on surfacing expertise and rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining.
• Act as a versatile team member, filling in for various roles, including operations and vendor management, as needed.
• Utilize unique skills for design, prototype, and building to enable faster iteration and more efficient product development processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design issues, working proactively to prevent time-consuming and costly trips to overseas factories.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Proficient in Solidworks, Fusion or other CAD tools, with a strong focus on surfacing expertise.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping techniques, including 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining.
• Proven track record of delivering "right the first time" designs that balance quality and efficiency.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and product design, preferably within the consumer electronics industry and in a startup environment.
• Demonstrated ability to design products that meet reliability, compliance, and approval standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Unique skills in design, prototype, and building for faster iteration and more efficient product development processes.
