Job Description
Exciting opportunity to join AGR Partners, an established private equity firm with $1B AUM in the global food/ag value chain. The firm originates 200+ off-market investment opportunities per year through a network of food industry executives.

The investment team has been together for 10 years and has completed 15 investments. Despite having an impressive reputation, track record, and investment process, this seat offers a lot of white space with an unlimited career trajectory and flexible capital.

Vice Presidents at the fund are given significant responsibility, with top performers quickly migrating into a deal lead position. You will be involved in origination, investment structuring, analysis, due diligence, and portfolio management.

This critical position offers a $150-200K base salary + 100% bonus + carry + comprehensive healthcare + 401(k) plus the opportunity to join a fun and fast-paced work environment with significant upside.

What will you be doing?

VPs are relied upon for a wide range of activities; specific responsibilities include:

  • Compose letters of intent and other deal-related documents, including deal-related presentation materials.
  • Lead efforts to translate letters of intent/term sheet to definitive deal documentation.
  • Mentor analysts and associates to develop core analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Design, structure, and carry out due diligence analyses, including industry research, market, and competitive assessments, transaction-related financial modeling, analysis of company financials and operational data, etc.
  • Involvement in a range of firm-building activities, including business development, lender management, recruiting, training, etc.
  • Active participation in firm decision-making processes.
  • Active board member or board observer roles.
  • Lead aspects of transaction execution and manage third-party service providers while supporting senior investment team members.
  • Assist in the origination and evaluation of potential investment opportunities including business development activities (e.g. conferences, trade shows, management tours, etc.)
  • Lead monitoring of initiatives to drive value creation within the portfolio.
  • Act as the point of contact in meetings with management teams / C-level leadership, intermediaries, and financing sources.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

  • An inquiring, conscientious personality with a sincere interest in learning.
  • Highly collaborative and the ability to work closely with other professionals both within the firm and with portfolio companies - a sense of humor is a distinct advantage.
  • History of professional and academic success and a high degree of intellectual horsepower.
  • A keen interest in investing, capital allocation, and the overall global food supply chain from field to fork.
  • Ability to work in either the Northern California or Chicago, IL offices.
  • The desire and ability to travel for business development and transaction-related work as needed.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to perform company valuations, prepare investment reports and conduct rigorous diligence and analytical analyses.
  • Extremely organized, detail-oriented and proactive with the ability to multi-task, track responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • 5+ years of private equity, structured investment, investment banking, and/or corporate development experience. A combination of experiences and exposure to the food/ag industry is ideal.
