Job Title: Principal Engineer / TDL - Structures.
Qualification & Experience;
  • Awareness of software used for Structural Engineering. Knowledge of Staad Pro, AutoCAD, Etabs, Robot, Mathcad, Master series, Revit, BIM etc.
  • Should delegate tasks and assign roles to team members to achieve the agreed project and organizational outcomes.
  • Building a profile in the industry and keeping up to date with innovations and developments.
  • Ensure management and financial controls are in place across small to medium range projects.
  • Coach your team on safe design processes and identify improvements in the wider business.
  • Create opportunities to implement new digital approaches on your projects.
  • Ensure that the industry best practices are adopted and implemented on projects.
  • Should take full ownership and make others accountable achieving 100% quality (processes/training/checklists)
  • The Indian, British, and Euro codes will be added advantage.
  • Flexible to adopt new work /challenge work as per business requirement.
  • Liaison with other team members to produce good design solution as per the best design practice.
  • Should be an independent problem solver.
  • Should resolve issues regarding resources/scope/budget.
  • An entry-level leadership role leads a large team. Support in developing functional area expertise Minimum 15 to 20 years’ experience required (extensive understanding of the various Common Data Environment platforms like BIM 360, ProjectWise).
  • Drive Health & Safety culture of the business within the team.
  • Should innovate to ensure your projects contribute to sustainable development and quality of life.
  • Ability to leading a team on various projects in line with client requirement.
  • Should play a key role in providing training, mentoring, and continuous feedback to first-time managers.
  • Familiar with US codes, standards, and practices related to Structural Engineering.
  • Compliance of Arcadis business management system.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.
  • Collaborate within your team and other teams within GEC as well as regions to deliver.
  • Enforce training objectives where appropriate to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Sound technical knowledge, academically good.
  • Independently develop methodologies and review methodologies developed by junior members of the team.
Principal Duties & Key Responsibilities

Role description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. As Resident Inspector, you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge to successfully execute and manage wastewater pipeline construction and sewer rehabilitation construction projects, reporting to the Senior Project Manager
Role accountabilities:
  • Complete and maintain detailed, daily construction activity logs tracking construction progress, personnel and equipment, and time and materials utilization
  • Act as liaison to office design staff for obtaining field information related to the answering of correspondence, RFI's and review of shop drawings
  • Assure that materials used on projects are in compliance with approved plans, specifications, submittal and ordinances, on behalf of Clients and Project Managers
  • Review plans and specifications for assigned projects, attend pre-construction conferences, progress meetings, safety meetings and bid openings
  • Review and respond to contractor requests for information (RFIs), change order requests and periodic payment applications
  • Monitor performance of contractors, subcontractors and suppliers and follow up on and relay any issues to clients and managers, including any changes or deviations from plans
  • Oversee junior Resident Engineers/Inspectors to ensure proper performance of duties and responsibilities and timely completion of daily inspection documentation
  • Monitor and track contractor progress and adherence to contract schedule
  • Inspect and assure quality of work, testing procedures, inspection protocols and construction techniques
  • Use oral and written communication skills to effectively participate in progress, project, safety, scheduling and other contract administration meetings with client, contractors, local agencies and the community
  • Provide construction oversight and management through all phases of water and sewer projects
Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of Construction Management / Resident Inspection experience
Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Experience and basic proficiency with the MS Office Suite (particularly Word and Excel)
  • Prior experience as an Inspector or Junior Resident Engineer on wastewater construction projects
  • Familiarity and experience with new pipeline construction and trenchless technology sewer rehabilitation construction methods, including cured-in-place pipelining
  • Prior experience with processing RFI’s, Time-and-material record keeping, processing contractor’s monthly payment requests, Change Order negotiations, and claim resolution support.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active participation in a regional or national professional association
  • NASSCO PACP/MACP training and certification
  • BS in Engineering or Construction Management
