Job Description
Catholic Social Services (CSS) seeks a President and Chief Executive Officer (President and CEO) to fulfill its mission, motivated by faith, to serve poor and vulnerable seniors and families reach their potential. The President and CEO will partner with the Board of Directors and the CSS senior management team to refine and drive a focused strategy that responds to the needs of underserved communities in central and southern Ohio. In collaboration with the Columbus Diocese and Bishop Earl Fernandes, the President and CEO will provide overall executive leadership and direction for CSS, ensuring that Catholic values are integrated into all aspects of the agency.


As a dynamic and collaborative leader within the community, the next president and CEO will build greater awareness of CSS’s mission and services while diversifying resources and securing alternative sources of revenue. This individual will have outstanding relationship-building skills – both internally with team members and externally with individuals ranging from clients served, to members of the board, to partners at like-minded social service agencies, to Fortune 500 business leaders, to public servants within local, state and national government.


Administratively, the President and CEO is responsible for planning and managing the personnel, budgetary, external relations, and operations of the organization including evaluating the effectiveness and sustainability of programs and expanding core services into areas of the Diocese not previously served. The President and CEO currently has four direct reports: Chief Operating Officer, Chief Program Officer, Chief Development Officer, and Executive Assistant with overall oversight of approximately 80 employees.


The incoming President and CEO must have a deep commitment to recruiting and retaining diverse staff members, possessing the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each member of the team brings to CSS’s mission.


The President & CEO reports directly to the CSS Board of Directors. Bishop Earl Fernandes of the Columbus Diocese provides overall guidance to the organization.
