Job Description

*This is a hybrid role based out of our HQ in Carlsbad, California. In-office expectation is 2-3 days a week*.

prAna – AN ACTIVE WELLNESS BRAND

We know from experience that the effects of an active life spent outdoors are profound and can be both the springboard and the foundation for a greater and lasting sense of well-being. And at prAna, we are committed to making products that help get you out there.

We believe in Nature’s power to better humanity and in humanity’s responsibility to do better by nature. Whether it’s going for a hike at sunrise or taking a walk at sunset, practicing yoga at the beach, or building a campfire after a day of surfing. Looking out from a rock you’ve just climbed, or looking down from the wall you’ve just mastered. We believe the most important step you take on your journey to well-being is the one that takes you beyond your doorstep.

ABOUT THE POSITION

As we evolve our creative approach for prAna, we are seeking an Art Director to help craft and bring to life our new creative vision. We want a master storyteller, a strategic creative, and an innovative problem solver who plays well with others.

This person must be a passionate, motivated creative powerhouse with keen leadership skills and a hunger for excellence. You will be expected concept, design, and produce a spectrum of creative work while ensuring objectives are met across key brand channels.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Develop creative briefs and strategies by collaborating with cross-functional partners (marketing, strategy, product)
  • Provide key input on key initiatives and resources needed for yearly planning
  • Collaborate with both strategy and channel leads to develop best practices that meet our business goals and satisfy our brand approach from top to bottom
  • Define project timelines, facilitate progress and ensure all projects successfully reach their goals
  • Set an example of creative excellence that inspires and guides a team of creatives to always reach for the highest brand standards
  • Conceptualize campaign vision, original graphics, copy, and content across channel and integrated marketing needs
  • Concept, design, and art direct high-impact assets and content for product launches, including product photography for digital, studio lifestyle, still-life photography, advertising banners, video content, and tv ads
  • Manage and inspire the team - pushes methods, creative processes and thinking (brand storytelling, and differentiation)

YOU ARE

  • Imbued with a strong creative design sense for premium products
  • Focused on the big picture with a good eye for detail
  • An experienced mentor who is excited to lead a diverse creative team of designers and writers
  • An excellent communicator who can thrive in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment
  • Highly organized with good project management skills. Able to juggle multiple priorities with limited oversight

YOU HAVE

  • 8+ years of creative design work experience, with a proven track record of high-quality design and content creation
  • A solid understanding of UX - wireframes, user personas, user flow, user journeys. You know a product needs more than just a pretty face.
  • Demonstrated creative expertise in a broad array of areas, including multi-channel campaigns, retail environment, packaging, and web design
  • A strong working knowledge of the fundamentals—interaction design, user-centered experience design, brand development, digital marketing and the creative process—as well as new platforms and technologies for the digital channel and related media
  • An understanding of the process that takes the insights from a product, markets or customers and pushes it from concept to execution (storyboard - location - casting - styling - photography, and film)
  • Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field with 3+ years experience as an Art Director
