Summary:

We are searching for a Practice Administrator III for the pediatric ICU - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will plan, organize, staff, and direct activities within the organization's clinical sections in collaboration with designated physician leader(s). Activities include planning and performance management, performance improvement, coaching, staffing, budgeting, policies and procedures on the section's research and academic pursuits.

Minimum qualifications:
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

  • Must have ability to deal effectively with patients, medical staff, administration, and the public
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, specifically word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and database software
  • 5 years' of health care operations or business management experience
  • Experience in an academic physician practice setting preferred Knowledge of health care administration
  • Must have ability to train, develop, and supervise effectively
  • Master's degree in business, healthcare, or a related field preferred
  • Must have skills in planning, organizing, and delegating
  • 3 years' supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or a related field required

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates service and departmental planning and process improvement across patient care, research and academics reviews proposed project initiatives strategic relevance and resource requirements and facilitates departmental prioritization
  • Provides structured feedback for each staff member through yearly development plans and informal and/or formal follow-up at least twice a year
  • Provides support for new program development, faculty recruitment process, credentialing process, and faculty development
  • Monitors operation of a budget-sensitive service model, including departmental staffing requirements and productivity levels by establishing, and/or contracting for related service performance from other departments
  • Budgets for and plans to realize expected levels of professional fee and technical revenue, accounts for and routinely reports on status and changes in revenue, and generates action plans to address financial issues
  • Ensures delivery of quality, cost effective patient care within family-centered care environment by coordinating and participating in service-based and cross-functional performance improvement activity that improves patient access/flow, patient/family satisfaction, referring physician satisfaction, research and clinical outcomes, or employee acquisition, satisfaction, and/or retention
