Job Description

The Portfolio Banker (PB) will be the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of accounts and will work both independently, and as part of a team, to deliver our comprehensive solutions to clients. Portfolio Bankers are required to have deep working knowledge of our solutions, including, but not limited to Credit, Treasury Services, International Banking, Commercial Card and Chase Merchant Solutions. The PB will interact and liaise with other areas of the organization including credit underwriters, AML/KYC officers, client service associates (CSAs), and treasury management officers.


The Portfolio Banker will not have primary new client development responsibilities, but will focus on maintaining and deepening existing client relationships.


Job Responsibilities


  • In conjunction with the CSA, the PB will be responsible to ensure the client's operational needs are serviced in a timely and high-quality manner. The Portfolio Banker will also have responsibility for annual coverage review of product sets and delivering the products and services of the firm to clients.
  • On-going client relationship management and responsiveness, including face-to-face meetings at the client company, as well identifying opportunities to deepen the existing relationship. PB is also responsible for documenting these meetings with call reports and maintaining CRM system updates.
  • Delivering Credit and Treasury solutions for clients, including assisting with processing credit requests, requests for amendments and waivers, in coordination with the credit underwriters. Coordinate with treasury management officers to add or expand treasury relationships with the clients. Additionally, PB is responsible for ensuring that all opportunities are entered and managed throughout the TS and Credit pipeline.
  • Oversight, escalation and resolution of any AML-identified compliance issues, as well as any reputational or negative media issues, in coordination with MMBSI management and the appropriate escalation forum. Supporting KYC officer in completion of AML/KYC due diligenceincluding approving DDF forms that reflect true relationship knowledge.


Required Qualifications, Capabilities And Skills


  • Strong investigatory, due diligence and risk analysis skills
  • Strong creative solution and problem solving abilities.
  • Able to work independently multi-task and handle a sizeable account load
  • 3-5 years of middle market banking, credit underwriting experience with a focus on business relationships
  • Familiarity with loan and other contractual documentation highly desirable.
  • Understanding of Commercial Banking products and services
  • Demonstrated experience of meeting or exceeding sales goals


Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities And Skills


  • Bachelor's degree preferred, and completion of a formal bank sponsored credit training program or formal training or experience in an underwriting role
  • Previous treasury experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to mobilize internal networks and resources. Diligent, detail-oriented and thorough
  • Strong client-facing skills.Polished, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities
