Plant & Yard Worker Jobs

This position involves performing labor tasks, such as housekeeping, cleaning yard areas, manual tasks involved in construction, etc. in the Mill or Quarry Department. Works under general supervision of Rock Plant Operator, Supervisor, Manager, and or General Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. GED or high school diploma or equivalent
2. Must possess a valid Hawaii State Drivers License.
3. Must become a member of the Teamsters Local 996.

Additional Information

1. Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained. Standard pre- and post- operational services utilizing Zonar (oil, water, fuel, tires, etc.) if required.
2. Keep plants, shops and yard areas clean and orderly.
3. May assist Powder Helper (Licensed) with loading bags and transporting tools and materials.
4. Use hand and power tools, such as pick, shovel, hammer, buster, etc. to maintain cleanliness of plant.
5. Assist tradesperson on trouble calls and repairs as assigned.
6. Responsible for cleanliness and proper appearance of work area.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
8. Must always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, process, and behaviors and immediately report any unsafe conditions and mechanical defects on equipment.

Key Skills & Competencies

1. Works in varying environments, from air-conditioned offices to hot, dusty, muddy field conditions.
2. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
3. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, and withstand heights.
4. Must be able to lift and carry materials weighting up to 60 pounds.
