Job Description

General Summary:

The Planning Manager, VMI is a dedicated Dillard’s leader, employed by Designer Brands. The VMI manager develops and mentors planning associates to support business strategy and financial metrics within Dillard’s businesses. He/she will provide analytical support to the sales and planning teams to maximize sales and margin as well as optimize inventory. The individual will demonstrate business agility and strategic thinking, leveraging internal and external data to make fact-based decisions. He/she will build/maintain effective cross-functional relationships with Sales, Planning, Analytics and Supply Chain.

Must have strong collaboration skills as this job requires a professional partnership between the vendor (Camuto) and retailer (Dillard’s). This person must be flexible and embrace constant change, as the job is always evolving based on current business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Partner with VMI Director of Sales on all aspects of business using clear and concise communication to achieve goals.

Achieve Sales and Gross Margin expectation set forth by department plan through the management of sales/markdowns/receipt flow/assortment plan.

Provide strategic direction, both pre-season and in-season, to ensure increased sales and profitability.

Forecast/Manage markdowns by implementing timely selections that will drive sales in the most profitable and appropriate long-term manner. Submit markdowns in a timely manner for approval; Review and monitor aged inventories and missed markdowns by door.

Maintain on order and suggest revisions based upon current sales and opportunities; manage extensions and accelerations.

Propose Annual sales plan by month, Seasonal sales plan by door. Monitor during each season to suggest adjustments that coordinate with store/market trends and/or Dillard’s initiatives.

Analysis of business drilled down to the door/sku level.

Weekly reports/recaps presenting current business in a manner that highlights opportunities/challenges in an actionable way

Door performance analysis to assist with reorders/on order changes and opportunities to ensure growth.

Market planning and preparation

Develop working relationships with cross-functional teams to optimize financial success and appropriate inventory levels.

Motivates, develops, supports and challenges associates.
