Responsibilities


Reporting to the Teacher Education Department (TED) Chair, the Field Placement and Recruitment Coordinator, is responsible for arranging supervised teaching placements at various school sites for both graduate and undergraduate credential candidates in the Multiple Subject (MSTE), Single Subject (SSTE) and Education Specialist (SPED) programs; arranges and manages informal placements and internships; coordinates the supervision of the candidates at the school site by assigning them a college supervisor; and is responsible for working with the credential program director(s) to monitor student progress in these placements. In addition, the coordinator will collaborate with field placement course instructors to oversee candidate evaluation and grading.


The Field Placement and Recruitment Coordinator for TED is responsible for collaborating with the KSOE Marketing & Admissions team by participating in recruitment to the MSTE, SSTE, and SPED credential programs in concert with the Program Director(s), Department Chair, staff of TED and others appropriate offices; meeting with prospective applicants, participating in admissions interviews is needed, and representing the TED credential programs at Information Sessions and recruitment fairs.


  • Monitor Student Progress and Support Student Success -
  • Field Experience Placement-Arrange supervised teaching placements with district school sites and qualifying private/independent school sites, principals and cooperating teachers. Manage and coordinate the supervision and evaluation of all credential candidates. Prepare and distribute superintendent, principal, teacher, and supervisor support materials and contracts so that all information is communicated effectively to ensure understanding. Collect, maintain and analyze all evaluations, including candidate, teacher and supervisors., coordinate and support candidates in their placements. Work with Program Director, schools and districts to set up internships and informal classroom placements and monitor student progress.
  • Admissions and recruitment- Support and collaborate with the KSOE Assistant Dean of Marketing & Admissions team in program specific recruitment activities for the MSTE, SSTE and SPED credentials; follow up/reach out to new leads to provide program specific information, have individual email/phone/in-person meetings to answer program questions, document all communications with KSOE Admissions team and in SLATE records, facilitate phone/Zoom video admissions interviews for international/out of state/ low GPA applicants, attend weekly Slate training meetings, participate in TED credential program admissions interview processes, and assist with planning/co-conducting bi-annual TED New Student Orientations. Provide content to KSOE Website coordinator to maintain accuracy and currency of program information.


Provide field placement orientation and information sessions to upper division undergraduate candidates and newly admitted graduate cohorts; Partner with the Credentials Program Director to monitor student progress in the placement and assist with assigning grades for field placement courses. Demonstrate a commitment to serving the students by meeting with each credential candidate a minimum of twice a semester to provide advising and professional support. Collaborate with site administrators in partnership schools, program director, faculty and supervisors to resolve student issues and to assure the legislative changes and curriculum changes are implemented. Track candidate eligibility and maintain records on each candidate for field placement; Verify and certify for the credential analyst that the candidate has met the student teaching guidelines and credential requirements for the CCTC.


  • College Supervisor/ Recruitment, Training, Supervision-


Recruit, hire evaluate, assign, and provide training to college supervisors. Provide evaluative feedback and counseling regarding performance. Coach and provide training and opportunity for growth. Create a supportive environment that recognizes diverse cultures, viewpoints, teaching and coaching styles. Prepare and distribute all materials required for the supervision of the candidates. Prepare contracts and approve expense reports to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency.


  • Data Analysis and Management-


Maintain school, district, teacher, student and supervisor lists. Collect and analyze assessments demonstrating the knowledge and technical expertise to make decisions and recommendations based data on student performance in placements. Maintain data and records pertaining to field placement and candidates’ student teaching competencies for CCTC accreditation reporting. Collaborate with the TED Dept Chair and Credentials Program Director to produce, update and publish annually the Supervised Teaching Handbook.


  • Other Duties as Assigned - Collaboration


Establish communication that supports organizational sustainability and educational efficacy. Assist with KSOE Commencement at least every other year, participate in CD and KSOE hiring committees as needed.


Experience And Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:


Education: PREFERRED: Valid California teaching credential;


Experience: (years required and applicable field of experience): Minimum of 5 years of experience in public or private schools.


Skills/Abilities: (e.g. computer skills, written & verbal skills, trades, laws, procedures, technical) Strong organizational skills, evidence of successful work with school administrators, strong interpersonal communication skills, knowledge of requirements of teacher credentialing and preservice preparation, knowledge of data management systems.


Licenses & Certifications (e.g. CPA, RN, etc.): REQUIRED: Teaching credential

Full Time Benefits: Staff employees who work a minimum of 1,560 hours per year (80% of full time non-exempt and 75% for exempt) and faculty teaching 6 or more courses per academic year.
