Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Physician Specialist Option B, for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to serve as staff physician. Provides comprehensive medical examinations, diagnostic and treatment services. Serves as member of the interdisciplinary treatment teams and on Center committees.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of interdisciplinary treatment teams providing medical information and/or recommendations.
  • Provides specialized internal medicine consultative or program and policy advisory services in the specialty areas to other physicians and Center staff, participates in medical committees providing specialized planning and evaluations of medical services and programs.
  • As a primary physician specializing in Internal Medicine, conducts resident evaluations.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
  • Established and reviews medical habilitation plans every 60 days for any changes.
  • Documents residents’ medical progress.
  • Performs comprehensive physical examinations, health assessments and sensorimotor development assessments to evaluate residents’ physical conditions within 72 hours following admission.
  • Participates in specialized internal medicine research or medical program review and evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine and American Board Certification in Internal Medicine.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One (1) year of professional experience providing comprehensive medical examinations, diagnostic and treatment services.
  • One (1) year of professional experience coordinating medical services with other professional disciplines and supportive personnel.
  • One (1) year of professional experience identifying most appropriate positive treatment regime and carrying out that treatment in accordance with best practices.
  • One (1) year of professional experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • One (1) year of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.
  • One (1) year of professional experience conducting physical exams of individuals.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to travel.
  • Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires the ability to serve on-call on a rotating basis.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
