Physical Education Teacher Jobs

Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. Teachers are expected to:

• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents
• Collaborate with colleagues and provide resources to meet student learning needs.
• Record and report student progress.
• Provide specialized instruction to students with emotional and learning disabilities.
• Provide students with a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
• Ability to work with a diverse population of students.

Job Qualifications

NYS Physical Education Certification. Preference given to candidates with dual certification in Physical Education and Health.

Candidates Should Possess a Broad Skill Set Of Effective Teaching And Learning To Engage Learners Of All Levels Including, But Not Limited To

• Knowledge of curriculum content and accepted methods of instruction
• Promoting equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environment
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
• Knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards and Assessments.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Job responsibility may require individual to do one and two person lifts and/or physical interventions on a daily basis with students weighing 50-200 pounds. Position requires the successful completion of all elements of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training. W-FL BOCES provides Initial and refresher TCI Trainings.
