Attention all phlebotomists! Are you ready to join a team that's committed to providing the highest quality healthcare to everyone in our communities? We're looking for a skilled phlebotomist who's accountable, detail-oriented, professional, and a team player. As a phlebotomist on our team, you'll play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive accurate and timely lab results. Your attention to detail will be essential as you draw blood and collect specimens for testing. You'll be working with a team of dedicated healthcare professionals who share your commitment to the organizational mission and values of dignity, integrity, and unity.

Duties Include:

  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates competency in all procedures required by a phlebotomist by demonstrated correct use of various needles, anticoagulant, special handling by using correct storage temperature, and of test requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize the integration of the lab services with overall clinic procedures.
  • Performs waived lab tests in accordance with MCHC waived testing policy and standards.
  • Prioritizes work to achieve maximum efficiency. Adjusts schedule in view of STAT orders, and urgent requests.
  • Uses proper veni-puncture technique and is efficient in obtaining blood samples.
  • Verifies order is for the patient present and verify information by asking the patient to state their name and checking it against provider order.
  • Maintains appropriate standards for infection control including, but not limited, to universal precautions, and correct hand washing.
  • Demonstrates a professional approach while using appropriate age-related competency skills during blood draws and lab specimen collection.
  • Performs routine inventory control by expiration dates, rotation, and temperature recording logs.
  • Labels the test tube immediately after procedure is completed with the patient name, date, time and initials.
  • Consults with the Director of Nursing, or LVN Supervisor for instruction regarding questionable requests from providers or staff.
  • Maintains drawing station and lab in a sanitary and properly supplied condition at all times.
  • Adheres to HIPAA rules when handling patient charts or lab results.
  • Accurately and efficiently processes the lab order according to the provider order.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comprehension of medical terminology
  • Valid and current State of California Phlebotomy license
  • Graduation from an accredited Phlebotomy program
  • High School graduate or GED certificate
