Under general supervision of coordinating manager and supervisor(s) performs Network (Jacobi/North Central Bronx) phlebotomy procedures.

• Follows procedures on positive identification of patient, two forms of identification, and perform the related activities in compliance with patient safety i.e. gloves should be discarded, tourniquets & vacutainers after each blood drawn
• Cleans laboratory equipment and performs clerical duties in support of laboratory phlebotomy activities
• Provides all blood drawing services to patient and clients( newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adult and geriatric ages) for specimen testing and diagnostic evaluation.
• Provide instruction for patients as required prior to the venipuncture (collection of blood samples)

1. Graduation from a senior high school or evidence of having passed an examination for a High School Equivalency Diploma; or,
2. Satisfactory combination and education, training and experience; and,
3. Successful completion of the prescribed training program for Phlebotomist.
