Your Role With Us:

As a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, your desire to provide friendly, timely and accurate service to those we serve, will help us go that extra mile for our valued customers and will members of our healthcare team to perform duties in an effective manner. Supervisors will directly supervise forty plus staff occupying the following roles: Pharmacy Technician, Certified Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Technician Students, Pharmacy Interns, Omnicell Packager National Guardsman (When Active).

Core Functions:

  • Develop new training programs. Develop and implement pertinent and effective annual competencies. Develop workflows to ensure regulatory requirements of outdated medication inventory are managed appropriately in all ADU’s, main pharmacy and IV additives. Ensure only experienced and highly competent pharmacy technicians assist with training new employees or students
  • Create and maintain schedule, complete annual performance reviews and competency assessments. Provide immediate feedback to staff on performance. Maintain patient care/patient first focus criteria’s. Assess workload and distribution of labor.
  • Assist with the prioritization and performance of the daily workload within the area. Provide technical expertise and guidance in supervision of staff. Maintain staffing, scheduling, and performance assessments for Technical Pharmacy Staff as well as Technician Students.
  • Maintain disciplinary documentation for productivity, absenteeism, tardiness, professionalism, departmental procedures (call-in/sick leave) for all Pharmacy Departments (100 plus employees).
  • Work with Manager to assure ongoing educational needs are met. Develop and implement pertinent / effective annual competency measures.
  • Assist in the setting, completion and monitoring of section goals, etc. Produces regular reports as required. Promotes innovative ideas to improve department performance 8. Timely submission and documented appropriate review and research of Patient Safety Alerts (PSA’s) and Performance Improvement Reports (PIR’s). Works with involved staff and appropriate resources to provide adequate follow up to PSA’s to assure continuous improvement of quality.
  • Assisting the Manager with developing /maintaining policies, procedures and standard work required for performing duties. Ensure policy and procedure manuals are updated, meet accreditation standards as well as meet needs of all personnel who work in the area.

Background/Expertise:

  • Current Certified Oregon Pharmacy Technician License (CPhT) required.
  • National Certification required through the NHA (National Healthcareer Association) or PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board).
  • Bachelor degree in related field, OR Associate degree in related field with two (2) years industry related experience OR Four (4) years of industry related experience.
  • Minimum (3) years Pharmacy Technician experience in Hospital Setting required.
  • Experience in team process, quality management, and problem solving required.
  • Must possess strong communication and project management skills. Effective communication with all members of the health care team is essential.
  • Minimum (5) years supervisory experience in related Healthcare setting required.
