JOB TITLE: PER DIEM NURSE (Exempt, Part-time, 89 day appointment)

RECRUITMENT NO: EXEMPT-M
LOCATION:
SALARY: $56.08 per hour


JOB DESCRIPTION: The Per Diem Nurse coordinates nursing care for patients, participates in patient
and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other staff and departments in
maintaining standards of nursing care; follows established policies, procedures or specific instructions.
Position is exempt from Civil Service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited
nursing program from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

  • Work Experience: One (1) year of professional nursing work experience, where the employee
independently provided nursing care to patients in a clinic, hospital or institution.

  • License Requirement: License to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Hawaii.

Applicants must submit evidence of current Hawaii RN licensure (a copy of valid license) at the time
of application.


  • Certification Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers must be obtained within six

(6) months of employment.

MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on
successfully passing a pre-employment physical examination, which includes drug screen and other
regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost
for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the
Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
