Job Description
The Payload Rack Officer (PRO) provides real-time, front room support for timeline execution, configuration, and troubleshooting of the on-board payload facility racks and platforms, as well as commanding interface for payloads. Assignments tend to be of moderate complexity, diversification, or expense. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goals outlined. Normally receives instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
Responsibilities / Duties
  • Responsible for managing the operations of the ISS onboard payload facility racks to support payload operations, as well as the onboard resources that are required for payloads to operate within these racks.
  • PRO team supports real-time operations seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day.
  • Responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the ISS onboard electrical, thermal, power, and command systems that are configured, monitored, and managed to support real-time science payload operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship required.
Education: Highschool diploma or equivalent. Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or other technical field preferred.
Experience: Commensurate military service in a technical or leadership field considered; 1-5 years of operation experience preferred. This is an entry-level position. Network or Voice Communication experience preferred.
Skills
The desired knowledge base for this job includes an understanding of Systems Engineering. Strong Troubleshooting and Analytical Skills. Problem Analysis and Resolution. Motivated self-starter. Ability to work with minimal guidance and oversight once clear objectives are established. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to establish and maintain successful work relationships with those contacted in the performance of this position. Ability to work in a team environment and to meet deadlines.
Work Environment, Physical And Mental Demands
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, prolonged sitting while using the computer and the telephone and attending meetings, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness. Ability to use a computer to input and retrieve information and data. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to travel as required by the Company.
