POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Administrative Director, Medical Imaging, Team Leader, Medical Imaging or Workflow Coordinator, provides support services and transportation of patients for inpatient and discharge needs. Supports ancillary hospital-wide needs such as transporting lab specimens, pharmaceuticals, patient belongings, small patient care equipment, throughout the facility.
EDUCATION:
- High-school diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous hospital experience preferred, but not required.
COMPETENCIES:
- Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire or receive certification within the new employee introductory orientation period and maintain clinical competency during employment with ECHN in this role.
- The employee must be able to speak, understand, as well as, read and write using the English language in order to relate to patients as well as read patient transportation orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Reads and logs transport orders and arranges workflow to meet the specified delivery time, timely arcing up any concerns.
- Provides appropriate care during patient transport to assure the patient’s comfort. Properly handles patients, taking care that IV’s, catheters and oxygen leads, etc., remain intact and are handled with care.
- Exhibits a constant awareness of isolation policy, and initiates the use of appropriate Infection Control procedures.
- Cleans and inspects wheelchairs, stretchers and lifting aids on a daily basis.
- Transports Interventional supplies from the Sterile Processing Department to Medical Imaging Department each morning. Transports used Interventional supplies to the Sterile Processing Department each evening.
- Returns all delivery vehicles to the appropriate department at the end of the shift.
- Reports any equipment problems as appropriate to be resolved.
- Maintains an adequate supply of portable oxygen canisters on transportation vehicles.
- Works cooperatively and exhibits Core Values at all times to accomplish all tasks as a member of the ECHN Team.
