Job Summary: The Patient Care Assistant PRN is responsible for performing technical and clerical duties associated with the care and treatment of patients.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
- Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.
- Assists with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, accidental contamination, and protects the patient from injury or harm.
- Obtains and records vital signs, I/O’s, weights, bedside testing, and documents in the patient record as directed by the license nurse.
- Delivers and obtains items from other areas of the hospital as required.
- Prepares and assists with admissions, discharges, procedures, ambulating and transfers of patients.
- Assists in monitoring adequate availability of equipment and stocking of supplies and equipment according to established PAR levels.
- Monitors patients with restraints or on suicide precautions and documents as directed.
- Assists and performs activities as assigned by the licensed nurse and within the scope of practice as outlined on the skills competency form.
- Maintains a safe, clean work environment.

- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- 3 – 5 plus years of relevant work experience.

- Completion of Unit Specific Competency Based Orientation Program within the first 90 days of employment.
