WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Answers questions about treatment plan within the expected scope or refers questions to RN.
• Performs delegated patient care activities as directed by the RN or medical staff upon completion of documented training, in a manner that is aligned with age specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate and high-quality treatment of patients.
• Make rounds and respond promptly to patient requests.
• Maintains unit supplies, prepares patient rooms and medical records, enters charges, and answers the multi-line telephone to assist in the safe and efficient operation of the unit.
• Assist in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as directed.
• Documentation of patient care.
• This full-time position is three 12 hour shifts per week (36 hours per week total), with a rotating weekend schedule where you would work every third weekend. The day shift is 7:00AM to 7:30PM. This is a 26 bed Oncology Unit. Employees working on this unit deal with solid tumor oncology, hematology blood cancer, and breast cancer patients. As well as some Medical Surgical overflow and end-of-life patients. It is imperative that individuals interested in this unit can cope with patients who are potentially very near the end of their life.
• Participate in organization, cleaning and safety of unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1 year Healthcare experience as a patient care technician or similar position Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Franciscan Patient Care Assistant Program (FPCAP), or Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) Required
• Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association Required
• High School Diploma/GED Required
