Position Summary
This position is a key support resource for the Patient Access Services Administrator and PAS Corporate Services Department. The Patient Access Specialist has advanced knowledge of Revenue Cycle functions and can provide leadership guidance in the absence of a supervisor or manager and works directly with the PAS Data Quality and Training teams to ensure that regulatory, divisional and organizational goals are met.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinates best practice standards for scheduling, registration and insurance verification functions.
  • Leads internal projects, committees and efforts to ensure CMS requirements are met for:
  • Serves as corporate subject matter expert for implementing Patient Access initiatives across ECU Health facilities and will work with cross functional teams to meet defined objectives.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives.

  • Ensures consent and documentation compliance as required by regulatory agencies and insurance companies.
  • Provides educational in-services to PAS and interdisciplinary leadership.
  • Performs analytics and identifies trends or anomalies.
  • Coordinates collaborative working relationships.
  • Supports annual patient access goals that align with business objectives of ECU Health, tracks and measures monthly results; communicates issues quickly and works with Administrator to assist in achieving financial targets.
  • Serves as a cross-functional member of the team providing direct leadership support to staff in the absence of a manager or supervisor and can supplement frontline operations workforce as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Master's Preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in using MS Office Suite applications
  • Bachelor's degree is required (Business Administration, Healthcare Technology, Public Health or similar degree)
Other Information
  • Full time, benefits eligible position
  • Days, M-F, 8-5PM – Flexibility depending on travel to locations
  • This position is onsite. It requires travel to all regional clinics.
