Patent Paralegal Jobs

Haley Guiliano LLP, a full-service IP law firm with offices in San Jose, New York and London, has an opening for an experienced Patent Paralegal to provide support in the area of U.S. Patent Prosecution. The position is open to qualified candidates within commuting distance of our office in either New York, NY or San Jose, CA.

• Prepare patent applications and subsequent filings for submission to USPTO
• Provide back-up coverage on quality control of filings
• Monitor docket for assigned matters to ensure all deadlines are timely met
• Assist in all prosecution phases of a matter from filing of application through to issuance of a patent
• Report PTO activities to clients
• Mentor and train more junior members of Paralegal Team
• Communicate and coordinate with colleagues and clients
• Review and process inbound mail

OUR REQUIREMENTS:

• Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as needed
• Ability to be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands
• A practical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and IP-specific platforms
• 3+ years of patent prosecution experience; experience in U.S. patent filings is a must
• Flexibility and willingness to come into the office as needed
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• A strong drive and willingness to own projects and see them to completion
• Ability to learn quickly and work efficiently and accurately in fast-paced environment
• Ability to maintain large portfolios of cases
• A collegial spirit with a willingness to train and be trained and take direction from others
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple, detailed tasks
• Bachelor's degree or higher
