Job Description
As a House Person your duties will include but are not limited to assisting in housekeeping and laundry as requested and always ensuring public areas maintain a clean and presentable appearance. This includes removing trash from rooms, halls, and public areas and consistently maintaining a high quality of detail. The House Person must ensure that standards of cleanliness in assigned areas are achieved and maintained on a consistent basis to provide the highest level of guest satisfaction in cleanliness and service, within the established time limitations.
House Person Responsibilities/Qualifications
  • Cleaning and maintaining guest rooms, hallways, furnishings, flooring and working/public areas at all times.
  • Remove trash from garbage bins and sanitize garbage bins.
  • Time management and efficiency in tasks.
  • Ensure that linen closets are stocked with all guest room supplies and collateral.
  • Follow written and verbal orders/requests.
  • Responsible for removing trash and soiled linens from Room Attendants carts throughout the day.
  • Help all departments, as needed.
  • Support team to reach common goals.
  • Follow all company, safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Assist Housekeeping and Front Desk, as needed.
  • Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  • Support property cleanliness.
  • Report maintenance problems.
  • Restock housekeeping supplies.
  • Remain alert, courteous, and helpful to guests and co-workers at all times.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards
  • Must exhibit a pleasing personality to ensure the highest level of guest service.
  • Ability to cross-train for another position if needed.
  • Deliver items to guest rooms, as requested.
  • Constant awareness of safety hazards (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons) and report to Floor Supervisor or the Housekeeping Office.
  • Responsible care of equipment and machines
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, according to the hotel demands.
  • Ability to lift at least 30lbs.

  • Previous guest service and/or housekeeping experience.
  • Highly motivated, organized, goal and results oriented.
  • Ability to remain discreet and respect the privacy of guests.
  • Professional in presentation and demeaner
  • Experience using industrial cleaning equipment and products.
  • Positive attitude, team focus, enthusiasm, excellent customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented and thorough.
Physical Requirements
  • Move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and steps.
  • Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps.
  • Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing of objects weighing in excess of 75 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Frequent standing and walking, constant use of hands and wrists.  
  • Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to work on feet for an extended period of time.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Move at a speed that is required to respond to work situations (e. g., run, walk, jog).
  • Indoor work with hard and carpeted surfaces. Occasional outdoor work.
  • Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Ability to read room numbers, dates, and basic instructions
