Statement Of Job


The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking candidates for the part-time seasonal Head Coach for Ultimate Disc Club. The Club competes against other Ultimate Teams both at the college and club level in tournaments and single matches. The Club works to spread knowledge of the sport of Ultimate Disc, as well as to provide a safe, fun environment in which students can exercise and compete.


A typical season is January through March.


Essential Duties


+


Attends all practices and events.


+


Instructs members on the rules and way of ultimate frisbee.


+


Maintains annual paid membership to the USA Ultimate Association.


+


Must be familiar with UMS Code of Conduct and the UMF Club Sports Code of Conduct.


+


Addresses/mediates any misconduct within the team leadership and/or team members; consults with the supervisor as needed for possible violations.


+


Collaborates with team leadership to organize the calendar of tournaments in New England and competitions in the Spring semester.


+


Notifies the club president when unable to attend practice sessions.


+


Participates in the annual review process by supervisor and team players.


+


Works collaboratively with other Club Sports Coaches.


+


Serves as an effective role model.


+


Advises Club team with the development of the annual club budget proposal.


+


Reserves University vehicles.

Qualifications


Required Qualifications


+


Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university.


+


Successfully complete basic Certified Coaching Certificate through USA Ultimate Association.


+


Complete the USA Ultimate Online SafeSport Training.


+


Valid Driver’s License (in good standing based on UMS standards).


+


Understanding /knowledge in concussion protocol processes.


Preferred Qualifications


+


One to two years of coaching experience at the college/university level.


+


USA Ultimate Coaching Certificate.


+


Certified in American Red Cross CPR and AED training.
