Job Description
Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the store and museum remain clean and presentable at all times.
  • Assist Museum Manager in realizing or exceeding determined sales plans and target metric objectives.
  • Maintain proper inventory controls, and facilitate inventory transactions and bulk count as guided by Director.
  • Great attention to detail for purposes of erecting attractive displays, arranging merchandise, and maintaining store appearance.
  • Set up displays and arrange merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales
  • Will be the manager on duty when Director is not on-site.
  • Ensure the gift shop is secured at closing by checking that doors are locked, alarms are set, and all safes are locked.
  • Ensure consistent execution of the museum’s marketing and visual presentation
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and report concerns to Director.
  • Keep daily records of store sales and merchandise damages.
  • Saturday shift is required for all Saturdays the museum is open.
  • Train staff on driving sales through consistent product knowledge development and customer service standards.


Minimum Position Requirements:


  • Cash handling; inventory control, and shrinkage management
  • Merchandising experience; knowledge of POS systems; strong customer service background
  • 3-5 years of retail management
  • Associates degree preferred; high school/GED acceptable with 5 years of retail experience

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding sales abilities to sell items to customers.
  • Strong customer service skills since this is a customer-oriented job.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:


  • Limited exposure to physical risk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical retail environment.

  • Provide resources for the safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.


Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:


  • The rate of pay is up to $12-$14 per hour depending on experience for up to 19 hours per week.
