Job Description
To support its strategic expansion, we are now seeking a talented and experienced OSP Technician, for our Hawaii location who possesses a genuine interest in performing telecom engineering. This position is remote, with some travel, but serving the Hawaii office (Hawaiian time) with Monday – Friday, 9-5 type hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate application statuses with communication companies and contractors.
  • Identify Hawaiian Telecom, Spectrum, and Hawaiian Electric infrastructure to conduct an accurate analysis of utility structures.
  • Perform structural analysis of wood, steel, concrete, and composite utility poles using 3D modeling software Ocalc Pro, PLS Pole, and PLS CADD.
  • Collaborate with customers and contractors to develop, evaluate, and propose project requirements.
  • Identify and recommend Make Ready work as necessary for utility structures.
  • Prepare make ready designs in compliance with clients engineering and construction standards along with relevant NESC codes and standards.
  • Advise a team of drafters, designers, and network engineers to ensure project coordination and overall quality control for PAR packages.
  • Support Project Manager in managing the workload of team and maintaining project timelines.
  • Conduct site design walks and field inspections with contractors and communications companies (If applicable).
  • Prepare PAR and ON packages for customers that follow Hawaiian EConstructiontruction Standards and NESC Standards.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel. We do not provide vehicles, but we do offer mileage.
  • A working understanding of the RUS (Rural Utility Standards) coding process and practices is preferred.
  • Must be capable of taking of detailed field notes.
  • Experience assisting in ROW acquisition is a plus.
  • NDS and AutoCAD experience is preferred.
  • Must have GComms experience.
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of Ocalc Pro, PLS Pole, and PLS CADD.
  • Must possess working knowledge of basic office software, such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
  • This position requires US Citizenship, a Permanent Resident status, or in limited cases H1B.
  • Must have at least two (2) years’ experience in telecom engineering.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Must have copper and fiber optic cable experience using aerial, underground and direct buried practices.
