The Optical Receptionist will be assisting the Clinic/Optical Manager/Director in every aspect of optical operations, including patient care and education.


  • Acts as “Traffic Control” for optical to make sure patients are assisted in order of arrival. Determines patient needs and direct them to the appropriate optician.
  • Answers incoming phone calls. Provides friendly, accurate assistance to callers and takes messages as appropriate.
  • Assists patients when browsing for frame(s), if an optician is not available.
  • Maintains a basic knowledge of products available and pricing
  • Pulls insurance authorizations for materials (frames, lenses, contacts)
  • Demonstrate the ability to correctly adjust and repair patient frames.
  • Verifies Patient's insurance, address, phone, eye care history, eligibility, and makes changes as necessary.
  • Follows up with patients regarding orders with prior notifications but have yet to be picked up.
  • Participates in on-going continuing education.
  • Accurately and timely completes all sales transaction. Performs daily cash procedures and close out.
  • Makes phone calls to ensure patients satisfaction.
  • Encourages a team-oriented environment and follows company guidelines and policies.
  • Records cash, credit card, & checks on logs for daily deposits. Completes deposit slips and makes copies of all required items.
  • Performs all required scanning of paperwork into the correct drives no later than 9 am the following business day.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
  • Records cash, credit card, & checks on logs for daily deposits. Completes deposit slips and makes copies of all required items.
  • Restocks supplies, frames and accessories as needed.
  • Minimum of 1+ years as receptionist
  • Greets all patients with a smile and makes eye contact.
  • Performs any and all duties as reasonably assigned.
  • Accurately document all communications with patient by noting in patients file; including date and time along with a summary of the conversation.
