Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. a world-leading manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced PLANT OPERATOR for its Osceola, Arkansas facility.
The Osceola, AR facility is comprised of two air separation (ASU) plants, one hydrogen plant (PHG). Our site supports Big River Steel (Steel Mill Customer) as well as the merchant gas business. The Plant Operator is responsible for the day-to-day safe operation of the plants and the site’s systems/equipment along with aligning with all EH&S standards to achieve a zero (0) lost time injury record within their area of responsibility, and to perform work duties in accordance with Quality Systems Manual procedures, safety policies and site-specific requirements. In this role, you will also be responsible for monitoring the daily production of liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and argon as well as gaseous hydrogen to ensure quality, cost and production goals are met.
The operator will be responsible for but not limited to the following activities:
  • Maintain a log book of operation activities.
  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment and make repairs if possible.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings.
  • Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards and unusual operation conditions. Keep work and supply areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Handle daily routines to include water treatment, equipment inspection, and log sheet readings.
  • Solving plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends.
  • Issue safety work permits and perform lock out / tag out of various process equipment.
  • Maintain online training program requirements.
  • Calibrate/Operate multiple process and pipeline analyzers.
  • Fill trailers and support the product load line
  • Ensure that all plant safety procedures are followed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor and adjust plant process conditions using various valves and operating equipment.

Physical Requirements must be able to:

  • Elevated work required.
  • Climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Work in all weather conditions. Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required.
  • Meet call-in requirements as needed.
  • Willing to take 24 hour on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis every other week

Experience / Education required:

  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment
  • Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience a plus
  • Previous work history and/or military experience
  • Experience with personal computers and/or DCS systems
  • Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings a plus
