The Operations Planning Coordinator is responsible for operating and maintaining an efficient inbound material pipeline that supports the plant production schedule to meet customer service objectives. They maintain inventories at an optimal level that balances use of working capital against the risk of disruption to production. They communicate effectively between suppliers, procurement, operations, planners, the inventory specialist, and buyers and other functions to manage changes and exceptions. They minimize the cost of supply by helping to reduce losses due to obsolescence, aged inventory and transportation costs involved in delivering the raw materials, packaging, and indirects to the plant.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Schedule packaging & raw material order releases with suppliers
  • Collaborate with suppliers, operations, planning, corporate planning, as well as other functions to develop cost effective and efficient approach to resolve raw material & packaging shortages
  • Place orders (write PO’s) with suppliers and maintain order status information up to date in the system
  • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of business results for supplier performance to include inbound materials delivered on time, in full, and in spec for ingredients, packaging materials, and indirects
  • Follow through the order to schedule timely and complete delivery to the plant; Maintain order information accuracy in system
  • Determine packaging & raw material & indirect order quantity needs based on combination of production demand forecast, historical usage, pipeline inventory level, plant inventory, and other key inputs;
  • Maintain close and clear communication with key stakeholders to ensure changes to packaging and raw materials, plant schedules and/or supplier sourcing options do not cause service disruptions
  • Manage inventory levels for the plant to make the best use of allocated space and capital while minimizing the inventory risks due to obsolescence and interplant transfer freight cost
  • Resolve invoice issues
  • Coordinate the raw material & packaging run outs for transitions to new packaging
  • Consolidate orders to minimize LTL shipments from suppliers
  • Drive continuous improvements on process, collaboration and other areas
  • Work with suppliers and plants to ensure lead-times, safety stock levels and economic order quantities are consistent with best practices
  • Challenge data / directions from production schedules, initial order quantity, run out analysis and others in order to make the best decision for the business
  • Manage raw material & packaging supply and inventory ramp-up/ramp-down for transition items
  • Understand the operational processes, capacity and delivery constraints of suppliers and the plant and communicate effectively to both external parties and internal functions
  • Assist with disposition of damaged materials and replacement of rejected shipments
  • Record issues affecting raw material and packaging supply chain
  • Work cross-functionally on new projects
  • Manage the inbound pipeline for ingredients, packaging, and indirects to the Hill's Pet Nutrition plant and any third party facilities;
  • Ensure that the plant has inventory to support the production schedule while reducing inventory investment;


Requirements:

Basic qualifications include:

  • Understandings of supply chain and manufacturing process
  • 1+ years experience in Ingredient & Packaging materials logistics and/or sourcing

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Advanced degree preferred, but not required


Salary Range $27 - $32 USD per hour

Pay is based on several non discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience, education, skills and office location. In addition to your salary, Colgate-Palmolive offers a performance based bonus and competitive benefits package.
