The Operations Manager will lead all aspects of a multi-product (Cell Therapy, &; Single Use Assemblies/Final Fill Solutions) operations at the Life Sciences Manufacturing Facility in Gaithersburg MD.

While reporting to the Plant Manager, will collaborate with the leadership team, including the HR Manager, Engineering & Maintenance Manager, Site Controller and Quality Manager, to define the road map for the plant and ensure the appropriate communication, planning, processes/procedures, training, development and guidance are in place for the supply chain/warehouse and production/operations teams.

Will influence, manage, identify and drive continuous improvements, ensure the delivery of products are of the highest quality, and the site’s service metrics are at market leading levels.

Operations Management: Manages/supports frontline supervision of the Cell Therapy, &, Final Fill Solutions departments in the plant.

Planning and oversight of plant activities such as plant personnel engagement, safety performance, plant production, controlling product cost, plant OEE, Production Utilization, scrap, internal ppm.

Promotes a safe working environment, reports/investigates incidents, and participates in functional department safety meetings. Oversees production environment in accordance with GMP & QMS requirements.

Ensures/introduces control systems on all shifts to eliminate product discrepancies. Commit to employee feedback and developmental processes.

Responsible for the preparation of the budget and operating within the operational budget. Adheres to all regulatory requirements – FDA, OSHA, OFCCP, EPA, etc.

Planning and Communication: Create, communicate and drive continuous improvement for supply and material planning, processes and tools, by reviewing current processes, ways of working, gaps and tools, to improve and sustain better metrics such as OTIF, OTD, production plan accuracy, etc.

Manages raw material, WIP and finished good inventory, purchasing spend for the site

Manages BOM, routing and other system related data for facility in coordination with engineering

Provides direction for Warehouse / Shipping. Coordinates physical inventory and cycle count program.

Ensures accurate information regarding order lead times and delivery dates is communicated to the commercial teams.

Continuous Improvement: Actively drives Operational Excellence and WCM within departments and establishes department objectives based on the WCM management approach. Also, provides leadership for quality standards, production efficiency, training needs, continuous improvement/cost reductions, scrap improvement, safety standards and environmental compliance.

Collaborative Leadership: Manages cross-functional projects to position facility well to add capacity to support future growth, prioritize CAPEX investment, align with corporate initiatives and lead next generation technological improvements.


Requirements


Education:

Bachelor's Degree - Engineering, Science, Quality, Operations Management or Related Discipline; Required.

Master's Degree - Business or Related Discipline; Preferred.

Experience:

10+ years of Progressive experience & exposure (with proven impact) in various roles/capacities within Manufacturing Operations (including Supply Chain, Production, et al; Required.

5+ years of Leadership experience (with proven experience within direct & indirect management/influence of teams and stakeholders; involving project-, change- and conflict management); Required.

3+ years of experience within Supply Chain (i.e. scheduling, capacity planning, forecasting, et al); Required.

5+ years of experience working within Regulated Industry (i.e. FDA, ISO, Aerospace, etc.); Required.

Experience within Life Sciences - biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical device, et al; Preferred.

Ability to travel upwards of 10%; Required.

Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $97,900 to $151,800 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $110,627 to $171,534. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
