Job Description

Robert Half has partnered with a client in the Dayton area who is seeking an Operations Manager! In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the manufacturing processes. You will be a key player in driving operational excellence, cost-effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing department. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, and a keen eye for process optimization.

Responsibilities:

  1. Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop and implement effective production plans and schedules to meet customer demand while ensuring timely product delivery and inventory control.
  2. Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency enhancement, and waste reduction. Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process optimization methodologies.
  3. Quality Assurance: Monitor and enforce adherence to quality standards and procedures to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations. Collaborate with the quality control team to resolve any product quality issues.
  4. Resource Management: Efficiently allocate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, to achieve production targets and maximize productivity. Forecast staffing needs and coordinate training programs for the manufacturing team.
  5. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular safety audits, investigate incidents, and lead initiatives to promote a culture of safety within the manufacturing facility.
  6. Cost Control: Identify cost-saving opportunities in the manufacturing process without compromising quality and efficiency. Monitor and manage production costs to meet budgetary goals.
  7. Performance Management: Set performance objectives for the manufacturing team and evaluate their performance regularly. Provide coaching, feedback, and support to team members to foster professional growth and achieve individual and departmental goals.
  8. Collaboration and Communication: Establish effective communication channels between different departments, such as engineering, procurement, and logistics, to streamline operations and address any cross-functional challenges.
  9. Compliance and Regulations: Stay updated with relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements. Ensure the manufacturing processes align with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across various departments.
  • Proven experience as a Manufacturing Operations Manager or a similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean methodologies, and process optimization techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and trends in manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
  • Sound understanding of health and safety regulations and their application in manufacturing settings.
  • Proficiency in using manufacturing software and ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management and cost control.
