Job Description
TRC’s client is an established auto parts manufacturer looking for an Operations Manager to join their team in Portland, ME on a full-time, direct hire basis.


The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing assignment of work throughout multiple departments and directly supervises the manufacturing supervisors and tool services. Leads in the development and implementation of operations procedures to ensure consistent safety, quality, delivery and cost goals are achieved across multiple departments.


Responsibilities


  • Ensure effective employee relations; provide coaching and development. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution and work with management and human resources regarding performance management issues.
  • Create and monitor manufacturing budget.
  • Oversee all facility and equipment/machine related performance, maintenance, and purchases; oversee applicable licenses and permit requirements and renewals.
  • Supervise employee workflow, assignments, and training throughout production departments, including lean, safety and Kaizen. Work with supervisors and train to keep cross training matrix active and up to date.
  • Encourage utilization of employee recognition programs.
  • Responsible for identifying talent, interviewing, training, evaluation and development of new and existing employee performance.
  • Implement and oversee performance metrics, including productivity, efficiency, and utilization; responsible for all production related status updates and reporting to leadership.
  • Responsible for the performance management and staffing needs of the employees within the assigned departments; oversee employee scheduling and overtime requirements based on customer, business, and production needs.
  • Evaluate production related issues, facilitate root cause analysis, and provide effective solutions and standardization to increase productivity to help meet organizational goals.
  • Maintain and upgrade capability, capacity, and equipment within the division; layout the plant and equipment for optimum product flow.


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical related field or business discipline
  • 3-6 years of related experience in a manufacturing production environment
  • Working knowledge of computer software/applications and various ERP systems
  • Prior managerial or supervisory experience
  • Prior work experience with 5S principles and methodology/Lean manufacturing
