Job Description


Ford Next is the venture studio within Ford Motor Company. Ford Next’s mission is to explore and launch new businesses that create value for Ford, while complimenting Ford products and services and reaching new customers. We are looking to build our core Operations team to prepare for various pilots and launches for our exciting new business opportunities.


Ford Next is seeking a proven Operations Manager who will own the development of our operational processes and lead in their execution. This person should have deep experience in setting up and running the operations of a physical product business. This role will also have a big hand in helping shape not just the new business, but the young organization as well.


Responsibilities


What you'll do...


Responsibilities:


Design the operational playbook for delivering our businesses


Lead the early-stage setup of launch operations, including selecting partners/vendors, planning for headcount needs, and mapping our physical presence


Manage various aspects of the assembly and distribution of our products


Collaborate with design and marketing teams to create the customer experience journey


Work with our supply partners to drive efficiencies in supply chain and after-sales support


Own the reporting of key performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve on them


Coordinate issue management and continuous improvement across our businesses


Serve as the top-level leader and mentor of our internal operations team

You'll have...


The Person:


The Operations Manager must be ability to dig deep into every detail of delivering the business while keeping in mind the big picture and thinking strategically about building a scalable model. While we are seeking a leader that can set the course for our operations, we also need someone that understands the value of a single customer, order, and product.


They must have a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to growing future operations leaders into leadership roles. They need to have the ability to lead through positive influence and hold the inherent belief that success requires building meaningful relationships at all levels and functions of the organization. Credibility among the team and peers is essential as well as a deep understanding of the Ford+ Plan, and Ford Next’s role to deliver on it. An effective leader will exhibit the Ford OS behaviors of Excellent, Focus and Collaboration and work diligently and ethically each day to help achieve success.


Perhaps most importantly, the Operations Manager will need to have the desire and the conviction to truly lead – to embrace the challenge of building a business from the ground up and the accountability that comes with being one of the core leaders of our team. Being successful in this role will require diligence, adaptability, and a willingness to collaborate with teams across the organization.


The minimum requirements we seek:


Bachelor’s degree


5+ years of experience in an operations leadership role


Experience serving as an end-to-end executional leader


Ability to multi-task and drive parallel projects and distributed teams with tight deadlines


Strong communication and relationship development skills, both internally and with partners


A willingness to truly get into the weeds and get the hands dirty to solve problems


Entrepreneurial in spirit, with the ability to work in a fast paced, startup environment


The ability to see the big picture and their team’s role in a financially healthy business


Our preferred requirements:


The best candidates will have experience in delivering new retail products to market and global supply chain management


Previous experience in a new growth, fast paced environment


Ability to build confidence with team members across the organization, at all levels


Maturity and leadership to drive cultural change, exceptional communication skills
