Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Office Assistant for the English Writing Program’s Writing Centers. This position will play a crucial role in key administrative work of the Writing Program.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Performs data entry for placements, grade data analysis, and any other requests.
  • Acts as work study liaison.
  • Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office support practices and the basic application and use of concepts, theories, and terminology of unit administration.
  • Performs secretarial responsibilities to support students, staff and faculty as well as other administrative tasks as needed by the department.
  • Completes other work consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the administrative, academic, or research unit, and the tasks and responsibilities of the Office Assistant in the achievement of unit goals.
  • Provides scheduling support.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Certifications/Licenses

Preferred Qualifications
  • Google Drive, Joomla, Access and Sakai is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, verbal and writing skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, and/or report writing.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and have strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
