Office Assistant - 30 Hours/Week

The National Pork Board is seeking a versatile, flexible, and adaptable individual to serve as the new Office Assistant. Reporting to the Director of Administration, this role will be responsible for providing overall general administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the National Pork Board and serve as the first point of contact for guests and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Serve as backup administrative support to Business Coordinators on an as needed basis.
• Oversee the office’s Innovation Kitchen space (ie: Scheduling its use, general cleaning and organization of supplies).
• May be requested to assist with various other ad hoc duties such as ordering sympathy flowers, taking notes, travel arrangements, etc.
• Accountable for all aspects of office supplies including ordering supplies when needed, managing our Amazon business account, and monitoring usage of supplies.
• Assist the Executive Business Coordinator with things such as planning of annual in-house events, processing producer and Board of Director’s expenses into our financial system, etc.
• Assist with in-house meetings as appropriate such as greeting attendees, assisting with catering, maintaining visitor log, etc.

Requirements

• Knowledge of SalesForce customer relationship management software helpful, but not required.
• High school graduate or equivalent, additional administrative or office assistant training strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, time management, and organizational skills.
• Professional, outgoing, friendly, and positive disposition.
• Highly skilled in use of Microsoft products: Teams, Work, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Proven ability to act independently and proactively anticipate the needs of staff, guests, and visitors.

Additional Details

• Minimum of 30 hours/week.
• This position includes a full benefit package including paid time off.
• This position requires working in office Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 2:30pm. Fridays may be flex days with the option to work from home, hours varying between 2 and 4 hours.

The National Pork Board’s corporate office is located in Des Moines, IA. Position will stay posted until filled.
