The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is looking for an Occupational Therapist to evaluate, interpret findings, and treat patients with complex physical dysfunctions, and/or injuries involving both complex and/or specialized needs in an acute care setting.
- Seeks opportunities to enhance one’s own professional knowledge, skills, and abilities as they relate to one’s current position and/or to prepare for potential future roles and overall career development.
- Represents the interests of the University of a Unit Leadership in the use of resources to meet service and productivity demands within unit goals and budgets; strives to promote continual process and quality improvement.
- Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.
- Provides quality patient care, evaluation, assessment, and treatment appropriate for patients’ needs.
- Attends and participates in educational programs and provides educational experiences as assigned.
- Demonstrates respect for all members of the University community in the course of performing one’s duties and in response to administrators, supervisors, coworkers, and customers.
- Evaluates and instructs patients in appropriate treatment plans in order to achieve treatment goals.

- Participates in divisional quality/process improvement activities and recommends opportunities for improvement in service quality.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Entry level experience in acute care hospital setting
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy is required
- Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required
- Experience in one or more of the following patient care specialties in acute care setting including ICU, cardiology, burn, orthopedics
- Demonstrates leadership abilities
- Demonstrates experience as part of a multidisciplinary medical team.
- Job related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work environment.
- 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist.
- Job related experience with and/or commitment to service excellence.
