Where you fit in
The Nursing Educator works closely with the centralized Education Specialist, the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Department’s Nursing Manager/Director to assist with new hire orientation and to assess, plan, coordinate and evaluate the educational needs of nursing staff at the unit/department level to enable staff to provide quality care for the unique patient population on that unit/department.

Your exceptional skills
Collaborate and assist the education specialist regarding: orientation process, in-services including arranging for speakers and classrooms, annual competencies and mandatory education needs; Communicate with new hires to assess needs, develop plan and set expectations of orientation prior to start date; Coordinate orientee’s clinical schedules and assign preceptors. Meets regularly with orientee, preceptor, and/or manager to discuss and provide feedback on orientation progress; Assists in development of strategies for clinical success of orientees and provides follow-up to managers; Assists the education specialist to provide educational experiences for affiliating students and observations within the department; Assigns e-learning and classes as needed per unit/job description and monitor for completion; Assists with monitoring and maintaining accurate staff education records in accordance with network standards, SDOH, JCAHO, and other regulatory and accrediting organizations; Communicates internal and external education activities pertinent for department staff; Assist with new product/process and/or in time learning on unit.

Your exceptional qualifications
Graduate of National League for Nursing, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accredited school of nursing with a BSN or within one (1) year of graduation. Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in nursing and at least one (1) year of experience in Maternity. Current Certification in the area of specialty or completion within (2) years of assuming Nursing Educator role.
