Nursing, Adjunct - Online

Online Nursing Adjunct Faculty positions at UCO are part-time teaching positions. Online Nursing Adjunct Faculty provide a quality online learning experience for RN to BS students. Courses are taught on an 8-week basis. Online Nursing Adjunct Faculty report to a dean or chair and perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. Online Nursing Adjunct Faculty work closely with the Nursing RN to BS Coordinator and the Nursing Graduate Coordinator. The relationship of the adjunct faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.

College/Department Overview:

The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments and the School of Engineering. The College serves more than 2,900 undergraduate students in 27 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Applied Mathematical Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

Teaching undergraduate nursing students, specifically RN to BS, in an online delivery method or teaching graduate nursing students, specifically in the Nursing Graduate program. Occasional participation in committee meetings may be required.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Possesses at least a master's degree in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

Master’s degree in Nursing and previous nursing education experience required. Active, unencumbered Oklahoma RN license. Nurse License Compact preferred. Online education experience preferred. Adjuncts hired for the Nursing Graduate Program must possess a Doctoral degree. At least one of the advanced degrees must be in Nursing.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Expectations include engagement and creating connections with students through announcements, discussion board participation, grading feedback, and individual outreach. Online Adjunct Faculty are expected to meet deadlines for answering emails and course questions daily and participating in discussion boards and posting grades and providing feedback weekly. Must be computer literate and familiar with APA style format.
