Pallative nurse practitioners will assess patient needs and diagnose health challenges. Shall provide emotional support to patients and family members facing devastating diagnosis. Will be responsible for assessing and treating patients to promote maximum level of wellbeing and independence for patients with a terminal illness. Will order referrals for medical services, treatments, and diagnostic tests. Prescribe diets, exercises, and therapies for patients suffering from serious illnesses. Work with patients, families, and other providers to develop treatment plans that are multifacited to include mind, body, and spiritual interventions. Primary work setting will be providing services within the hospital setting during business hours - Monday through Friday. Will be responsible to the post-acute service line Director of Ephraim McDowell Health.

Under the general direction of the service line Manager, maintains 24 hour responsibility and accountability for leadership and supervision of a designated care unit which promotes quality care and cost effectiveness use of resources. Participates in the direct patient care of patients. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skill. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
