Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN), performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education. The Nurse Assistant follows the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions.

I5 Cardiac Telemetry Unit :

The I5 Cardiac Telemetry Unit specializes in cardiology, heart failure and arrhythmias/dysrhythmias. The patient population in this 32-bed unit includes acute myocardial infarction, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, post-op cardiac catheter procedures, newly placed pacemakers, post EP procedures and coronary artery bypass graft from the ICU. Patients receive care from an interprofessional team that collaborate to ensure that they have an evidence-based practice plan of care to achieve the best outcomes.

On this fast-paced unit nursing assistants are valued as a critical part of the patient’s recovery, safety and satisfaction during their stay. Nursing assistants interested in becoming RNs have a unique opportunity to be offered a position as a Nurse Extern after completion of one-year RN school assisting in a smooth transition to an RN role. The leadership team provides support and education ensuring staff can provide the safest care for our patients daily.
