  • Minimum Education Requirement
      Graduate of a LPN program. IV Therapy course within one year of licensing.
  • Physical Requirement/Working Conditions
      May have irregular hours and long periods of standing and walking. Should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and will seek assistance when heavier objects need to be lifted. Patient Lifting equipment and assistive devices to be used when lifting/transporting patients. Position requires lifting, rotating body, flexing, extending, stooping, pushing/pulling, repetitive motions. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, combative patients and other conditions common to a hospital environment. May be exposed to infectious specimens, diseases, soiled laundry, heavy lifting and handling, but potential for personal harm or injury to self or others is limited when proper safety and health precautions are followed. Must successfully complete a post offer physical assessment. Able to maintain emotional stability under stressful and complicated situations; Must be able to perform CPR. External applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.

  • Job Summary
      The LPN works under the direction of the registered nurse and utilizes the nursing process in the planning, implementing, and evaluating of nursing care to the patient. This individual collaborates with other members of the team in providing health information, maintenance and restoration. The LPN may collect data on the health status of the patient in conjunction with other members of the health care team, for the identification of health goals. The LPN may communicate with the patient the status of goal achievement as a basis for reassessment, reordering of priorities, and new goal setting for contribution to the modification of the nursing care plan. He/She ensures that compassionate, engaged care meets or exceeds quality standards. Care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the South Carolina licensure and AAMC standard of care.
